SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – Yet another Sheboygan County resident, this one in their 40s, has fallen victim to COVID-19, the 93rd to succumb to the disease since the pandemic began some nine months ago. Of the 93 who have died, one was between ages 10 and 20, two were in their 30s, four in their 40s, five in their 50s, fifteen in their 60s, twenty-two were in their 70s and forty-four were 80 or older.
Only 123 tests results have been received since Monday, and of those, 17 were positive for COVID-19, a 13.8% rate. 11,197 cases have been confirmed so far in Sheboygan County. 64 more recoveries put that total at 10,082, and 1,022 cases are now active, a drop of 48 since yesterday. Hospitalizations were down 1 at 17.

DHS: 2,755 new positive cases of COVID-19 in WI; 35 new deaths

MADISON, Wis. - The number of positive cases of COVID-19 in Wisconsin rose by 2,755 Wednesday, Dec. 30, officials with the Wisconsin Department of Health Services reported, for a total of 477,292.
There have been 4,818 deaths in the state, with 35 new deaths reported Wednesday by DHS officials.
Of the positive cases, 21,207 have required hospitalization (4.4%), while 444,609 have recovered (93.2%), making for 27,729 active cases (5.8%).
More than 2.3 million have tested negative. More than 2.8 million have been tested.

Health officials also reported 66 news deaths bringing the death total to 5,262 in Minnesota.
According to the Minnesota Department of Health website, 5,527,037 tests have been completed to date.
There are 395,679 patients who no longer require isolation.
So far, 21,605 patients have required hospitalization and 4,597 cases have been hospitalized in ICU.

Nearly 1 million enable Wisconsin contact tracing app

MADISON (WKOW) One week after Wisconsin launched it s contact tracing app, WI Exposure Notification, almost 1 million people have enabled the technology.
Between Apple and Google, as of yesterday, 970,418 people have enabled the Bluetooth technology on iPhone and downloaded the app for Google devices.
A Department of Health Services spokesperson passed along the numbers Wednesday in response to a 27 News inquiry.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services reports that positive test codes have been issued, and that some of those codes have been “claimed” – which means that the app user who tested positive for COVID-19 has chosen to notify their contacts through WI Exposure Notification.
