Each kit will include detailed instructions on how to collect the saliva, which includes a video call with a testing supervisor. The kits will also include instructions for shipping completed tests via UPS dropbox.
A saliva test is similar to a nasal swab test people receive at community testing sites in that both determine whether a person has an active COVID-19 infection.
The effort will make testing even more accessible for Wisconsinites, said Gov. Tony Evers, in the news release. We believe that anyone in Wisconsin who needs to be tested for COVID-19 should have access to a test, he said.
Public Health Officials: Flu Cases Are Extremely Low This Year
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services says flu cases are extremely low this season. Normally, the state would be averaging 20-to-30 cases each week at this time of year – but, this year only 28 cases have been recorded since October. Public health officials emphasize that flu deaths are not being marked as COVID-19 deaths. They are easy to separate. Cases of the common cold are down, too. The low cold and flu numbers could be reflective of people wearing masks and social distancing.
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – Wisconsin’s Department of Health Services reported 120 new deaths Tuesday, the most single-day deaths since the pandemic began. However, the path out of the pandemic begins in La Crosse this week. A COVID-19 vaccine was received by healthcare workers at Gundersen Health System Tuesday.
“I am just incredibly grateful for this moment, this day,” Dr. Elizabeth Cogbill of Gundersen Health System.
The finish line to this exhausting race cannot be seen without the start of its solution.
“This is the shot of hope after months and months of walking this journey,” Cogbill said, who leads Gundersen’s long term care team.

Matt DeLange, Brittany Lopez Naleid and Shannon Toole are lawyers in Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren’s labor and employment practice.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently issued revised guidance with options for reducing the length of quarantine for people who are asymptomatic but have also had close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.
Although the CDC still acknowledges that the 14-day quarantine period provides the greatest protection from spreading the virus, it also recognizes that a full 14-day quarantine period can be a burden for employers and employees alike.
