As precautions are being taken at the State Capitol in anticipation of potential protests Sunday, Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul is warning against violence.
The Wisconsin Supreme Court has granted requests by state lawmakers to intervene in a pair of cases that question whether state environmental regulators have the authority to restrict farming operations in order to protect water. The move is likely to put the state s Republican-controlled Legislature at odds with Evers administration on those cases.
The court, which was divided on the requests, ruled Tuesday that lawmakers could intervene. Justice Brian Hagedorn did not take part in the court s decision.
Lawmakers granted themselves the power to intervene in cases during a December 2018 extraordinary session. The state s high court upheld the actions of lawmakers during that lame-duck session after several lawsuits were filed challenging laws passed during that time.

WASHINGTON, DC (WSAU) Wisconsin’s 3rd Congressional District Representative was less than complimentary of those protesting the count of the Electoral College on Wednesday, which led to clashes with police and a lockdown of the US Capitol building.
“It’s a disappointment when today should be a day of celebration,” said Kind. “Celebration of the time-honored tradition of the peaceful transfer of power that makes our nation exceptional in the eyes of the world. Unfortunately, that has pulled up short today.”
Kind minced no words as to who’s to blame for Wednesday’s violence, quickly directing blame at President Trump. “A day before these demonstrations were supposed to take place [the President] was encouraging this type of activity- claiming it was going to be quote ‘wild.’
