State Department officials have thus far declined to outline what mechanisms, if any, it has put in place to stop a tranche of aid money from reaching Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip and is responsible for initiating a deadly conflict with Israel this month.
The State Department admitted this week that it could not guarantee the tranche of money will be kept from Hamas.
“As we’ve seen in life, as we all know in life, there are no guarantees,” a senior department official said, as transcribed by WFB.

Conveyed appreciation for U.S. solidarity in addressing the Covid challenge, the Minister says.
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has had a hectic day and a half in Washington DC, where he met government officials, including National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan and the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) ambassador Katherine Tai, lawmakers, and the private sector.
Mr. Jaishankar, who is on his first visit to the U.S. during the Biden administration, met with Mr. Sullivan on Thursday. Both sides indicated that there was a discussion on regional (Indo-Pacific) or global issues, with Mr Jaishankar specifying, via a tweet, that Afghanistan came up.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also met influential American lawmakers from both the Democratic and Republican parties on Thursday and discussed developments pertaining to Quad and the cooperation on vaccines with them.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met several top US Cabinet Ministers, lawmakers and officials to discuss developments pertaining to the Quad, Indo-US cooperation on Covid-19 vaccines and Afghanistan on Thursday.
Jaishankar also interacted with members of US-India Business Council and the US Global Task Force on Pandemic Relief.
On Friday, Jaishankar began the day with a meeting with his counterpart and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
Jaishankar is in the US to sort out several issues relating to import of vaccine and related raw materials from the US as well as partnership to counter security related issues involving China which affect both countries.
