COVID-19 vaccines for children ages 12 to 15 could be available in Ventura County by the end of the week, local health officials said Tuesday
A panel of scientists representing California and other western states is scheduled today to review the U.S. Food and Drug Administration s recent approval for extending the use of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine to adolescents. We might get final approval to use the vaccine as early as Thursday, Ventura County Health Officer Dr. Robert Levin said at a Board of Supervisors meeting.
Local officials said the shots would likely be available at walk-in vaccination sites nationwide. The state’s My Turn vaccine scheduling site is also set to start accepting appointments Thursday morning for children 12 to 15.

Graduation season kicked off on an overcast Saturday morning with California Lutheran University students walking across the stage after an unforgettable end to their years at the Thousand Oaks school.
Students arrived with their families to the Ventura County Fairgrounds, where each car parked based on designated color. Around 600 cars surrounded the stage set up at the fairgrounds, confirmed by university spokesperson Karin Grennan. It gives me tremendous pleasure to be here in person on a real stage with all of you on this very special, but unique, ceremony, said Cal Lutheran President Lori E. Varlotta during her remarks at the start of the ceremony.
Graduates from Cal Lutheran University will take part in a graduation ceremony with a difference on Saturday. A drive-in style event has been arranged, to keep the event COVID-safe.
