On Thursday, all Californians ages 16 and up became eligible to sign up for an appointment to get a COVID-19 vaccine dose.
Ventura County Public Health reports that more than 4,800 county residents ages 18 and under have gotten a vaccine dose, and more than 43,000 ages 19 through 30 have gotten a dose as of April 14.
Currently, people ages 16 and up can get the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, according to the federal Food and Drug Administration. The Moderna vaccine is available for anyone 18 and older. Use of the third available vaccine, Johnson & Johnson, was suspended for investigation.
For high school and college students who may be hesitant about getting the vaccine, several who have already gotten at least one dose of the vaccine encourage their peers to make their appointments when eligible.
