Ventura County added 3,288 new COVID-19 cases and 17 more deaths over the weekend, authorities reported Monday, while hospitalizations hit another record.
The update brings the county s total number of confirmed coronavirus infections to 51,605 since the first local case was reported on March 6. Of that total, 44,152 residents have recovered, according to county public health officials.
Another 7,102 residents with active cases remained under quarantine. That was up from 6,654 active cases in the county s last report on Friday.
The 17 new deaths attributed to COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus, bring fatal cases in Ventura County to 351.

The week of Jan. 18, OUSD will follow its “conference prep schedule,” and hybrid students will again only be on campus on Wednesday, Jan. 20, and Thursday, Jan. 21.
The following week of Jan. 25 the start of the second semester OUSD will return to a full hybrid schedule with each group (cohort) being on campus two days per week, with a total of four in-person learning days.

For Matilija Middle School and Nordhoff High School, OUSD plans to return to campus in small cohorts for the second semester, which starts Jan. 25. The schedules that OUSD “Return to Campus teams” have been working on allow for one pod on campus each day, Morse wrote.
