Oxnard police investigate stabbing which killed 39-year-old man

View Comments A 39-year-old Oxnard man died after he was stabbed multiple times on Tuesday night, according to the Oxnard Police Department. The victim was reported around 6:15 p.m. in the 5500 block of Cypress Road across from East Clara Street. The location is part of the Cypress Gardens neighborhood on the southeastern edge of the city.  Police arrived on the scene of an abandoned agricultural lot to find the victim suffering multiple stab wounds. By the time paramedics arrived on scene, he had succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The victim was stabbed with some kind of edged weapon or sharp object on the premises, according to Sgt. Edgar Fernandez, of the Oxnard Police Department s Major Crimes Unit.

Port Hueneme woman found dead in house fire identified The Port Hueneme woman found dead after her residence caught fire on Thursday night has been identified. Helen D. Schneider, 90, was found dead after a fire was knocked down in her home in the 2500 block of Neptune Place in Port Hueneme, according to the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office. The cause and manner of her death are still pending. Investigators have been working to determine if Schneider died as a result of the fire or prior to the incident. The fire was first reported at 7 p.m., according to the Ventura County Fire Department. The single-story townhome is located in Hueneme Bay, a retirement community in Port Hueneme.

Westlake crash victim identified as San Francisco State student

A computer engineering student and former Westlake High basketball player has been identified as the man who died in a single-car crash in Westlake Village on Saturday night. Tynan McGrady, 23, of Thousand Oaks, died after the car he was driving crashed into a telephone pole along South Westlake Boulevard, about three-quarters of a mile south of Potrero Road, at 7:04 p.m. McGrady’s sisters, models Hunter and Michaela McGrady, posted tributes to their brother on social media on Tuesday. “If you know me you know I rave about my brother, he is and will always be the love of my life,” Hunter McGrady wrote on Instagram. “I would text my brother every single night the words ‘Goodnight I love you’ because I never wanted a day to go by without him knowing how much I love and adore him.”

Driver killed in crash with ambulance on Highway 118 Tuesday night View Comments A Camarillo woman was killed in a broadside crash with an ambulance Tuesday night on Highway 118 west of Moorpark. The incident was reported around 10:20 p.m. east of Balcom Canyon Road, said California Highway Patrol Officer Ryan Ayers. The woman was identified Thursday as Elizabeth T. Graham, 65, of Camarillo, according to the Ventura County Medical Examiner s Office. Graham had been driving a 1998 Saturn S-series westbound on the 118, Ayers said. She was wearing a seatbelt and was the only person in the car. An American Medical Response ambulance, also known by the initials AMR, was headed eastbound on the 118 back to Moorpark, Ayers said. No patients were aboard the ambulance. Only the driver, a 59-year-old Moorpark man, was in the vehicle.
