The casualty got into difficulty on Bank Holiday Monday (May 31) and was airlifted to hospital. Brecon Mountain Rescue Team said: The team were requested by Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust to respond to a crashed paraglider in the Newtown area. The team responded quickly to the request along with Midlands Air Ambulance Charity. Whilst en route, the casualty had been successfully taken to hospital by the air ambulance. The team then returned to base ready to respond to any other calls. We wish the casualty a rapid recovery. The paraglider s condition is unknown.
Paraglider taken to hospital after crashing into Gelligaer Common Picture: CBMRT MOUNTAIN rescue were called out yesterday evening after a paraglider crashed into Gelligaer Common. Central Beacons Mountain Rescue Team (CBMRT) were just beginning their training session when they were contacted by Gwent Police to assist. Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust and their Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) were also on-scene after a paraglider crashed on Gelligaer Common near Deri. The man was treated by HART and fully immobilised in a vacuum mattress before being placed on an mountain rescue stretcher for evacuation off the hill.
