Are Pakistan and the US, now headed by President Joe Biden, heading towards a new kind of relationship? A new paradigm on which to base their engagement with each other? Perhaps it is too early to say. But for the moment, beyond the question of Afghanistan, on which the US has little choice but to place at least some reliance on Pakistan, there seems to be little real effort by Washington to engage with Pakistan or to involve and include it in key conversations on a range of issues. Matters got off to a somewhat troubled start, when soon after Biden was sworn in as President, a court in Pakistan ordered the release of Omar Saeed Sheikh, the man found guilty of killing US Wall Street Journal journalist Daniel Pearl in 2002. ISLAMABAD: The President of the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly, Volkan Bozkir, Friday departed here on completion of his three-day visit to Pakistan.
The UNGA president visited Pakistan at the invitation of Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi.
President Bozkir began his engagements by delivering an address at the National Defence University, where he lectured on multilateral solutions to global challenges pertaining to peace and security, human rights, and sustainable development.
He met Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and discussed Palestine, Jammu and Kashmir, Afghanistan, UN Security Council reform, Pakistan’s Presidency of the United Nations Economic and Social Council, climate action, financing for development, and the equal, fair, and equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines for all.

President of the 75th session of the UN General Assembly Volkan Bozkir is undertaking a three-day official visit to Pakistan from on Wednesday. He is visiting Pakistan on the invitation of Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi. During his stay, Volkan Bozkir will have detailed talks with the foreign minister and call on the leadership. The interactions will cover a wide range of political and socio economic issues on the UN agenda. Bozkir will also deliver a talk on the importance of multilateralism. Volkan Bozkir is the first Turkish national to preside over the UN General Assembly. He is a former diplomat and a senior politician. He also visited Pakistan last year in August before taking up the prestigious position of President of the UN General Assembly.

President of the 75th session of the UN General Assembly Volkan Bozkir is undertaking a three-day official visit to Pakistan from today (Wednesday).
He is visiting Pakistan on the invitation of Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi.
During his stay, Bozkir will have detailed talks with the FM, the Foreign Office said in a statement. The interactions will cover a wide range of political and socio economic issues on the UN Agenda.
Bozkir will also deliver a talk on the importance of multilateralism.
Bozkir is the first Turkish national to preside over the UN General Assembly. He is a former diplomat and a senior politician.
