The protesters who sought to take over the US Capitol building on Wednesday generated anger and concern about the nation s democracy across the country and among world leaders. Peaceful protest is an important mechanism of our democracy but what we are witnessing in our nation s Capitol building is reprehensible and an outright assault to our democracy and Democratic institutions, California Governor Gavin Newsom said. Because of today s events incited by the President, I had to ask the Illinois State Police and other enforcement resources, engaged in important life-saving missions (COVID-19 vaccination), to redeploy to heighten their presence at government buildings and the Capitol in Springfield, said Illinois Governor JB Pritzker.
Trump Loyalists, Sens. Ted Cruz & Josh Hawley Helped To Inspire The Insurrection By Resisting Biden’s Victory
WASHINGTON–Early this afternoon, approximately 2,000+ pro-Trump rioters breached police barricades, in an attempt to overthrow the U.S. government and sabotage Joe Biden’s certification process which was taking place at Capitol Hill. Guided by Donald Trump’s false messages of a fraudulent election, they took it up on themselves to organize a coup to maintain Trump’s presidency, in lieu of Trump’s failed conspiracy theories and judiciary losses to prove the fraud claims. Countless judges from different circuits denied Trump attorneys’ attempts to challenge the election results due to lack of evidence. The insurrection resulted in 4 people dead, one woman was shot and killed and 3 suffered medical emergencies.
