Published December 24, 2020 3:37pm UNICEF-Philippines called on the public on Thursday to refrain from berating and posting personal information of the daughter of Police Master Sergeant Jonel Nuezca, the cop who shot to death two of his neighbors in Paniqui, Tarlac last Sunday. According to UNICEF, children have the right to be protected from all forms of violence, including bullying, noting that the child is also a victim in the situation. UNICEF is deeply concerned for the well-being of this child whose photos are being circulated on social media platforms where she has been repeatedly vilified and verbally abused, it said.

MANILA: Even for Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, the sight of an off-duty policeman killing in cold blood a mother and a son she was desperately trying to protect was too brutal.
“I don’t think that you can escape the rigours of justice because it was caught on TV. Even I am dumbfounded… That’s unfair and too brutal,” Duterte said during his televised Cabinet meeting on Monday night (Dec 21).

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 23) The family of Sonya and Frank Anthony Gregorio, the mother and son fatally shot by their neighbor, a police officer, expressed hope that President Rodrigo Duterte’s order on the suspect’s strict jail sentence will be carried out.
Duterte in an earlier public address lashed out at Police Staff Sgt. Jonel Nuezca, instructing authorities to lock him up and to keep him in jail due to the grave offense.
