A significant number of foreign diplomats in the national capital have been hit by COVID-19’s deadly second wave. The situation was brought to light on Saturday evening with the Embassy of the Philippines reaching out to the volunteers of the Indian Youth Congress (IYC) seeking oxygen cylinders.

External Affairs Minister (EAM) Dr S Jaishankar will embark on a four-day visit to London beginning Monday primarily to participate in a meeting of foreign ministers of G7 countries.
India has been invited to the meeting as a guest country, news agency ANI reported. The External Affairs Minister will be visiting London from May 3-6 to participate in the G7 foreign ministers meeting, at which India has been invited as a guest country. He will thereafter undertake a bilateral visit to the UK, the Ministry of External Affairs said.

NEW DELHI: Chinese President Xi Jinpings message on Friday to Prime Minister Narendra Modi extending Beijings support to counter the second COVID wave in India is a major step, marking the first direct communication between the two leaders following the Chennai informal summit in 2019.
Interestingly, Xi reached out to the Prime Minister, after US President Joe Biden and the Russian President Vladimir Putin had spoken to Modi, and followed up their conversation with the dispatch of planeloads of essential medical supplies to counter the second vicious wave of Covid-19.
