S Jaishankar On Monday, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar pronounced Assam as Springboard of India’s Act East Policy and its overall development as fundamental to the success of the policy. Addressing a press conference on ‘Act East Policy and India-Japan Cooperation in North East India’, he asserted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is deeply committed to the all-round development of the state and JICA- Japan International Corporation Agency can attest to the fact how international partnerships and policies can make a contribution towards the development of states. Dr S Jaishankar also underlined that though the birth of nation-states after the departure of British, perturbed the process connectivity, the Act East Policy enunciated by PM focused on the potential to restore the connectivity and entail increased people to people contact with the other countries situated to the eastern side of India particularly the ASEAN nations.

Both countries are leveraging the location of India s North-East region, to secure a trans-border regional corridor where China s interference would be minimised. From their perch in Guwahati, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Japan s ambassador to India, Satoshi Suzuki, went out of their way to nail the convergence of India s Act East Policy and Japan s Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP) doctrine. The two made it plain that India s North-East was a focal point of the Indo-Pacific, bridging the rest of India with the 10-nation ASEAN.

According to United Nations report, 1.37 lakh Tamils were killed in Sri Lanka. Three days after the visit by our External Affairs Minister S. The project is being set up along the banks of the Brahmaputra.   |  15 Feb 2021 7:45 AM GMT GUWAHATI: Ahead of the upcoming Assam Assembly Polls, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and the Ambassador of Japan to India, Satoshi Suzuki, on Monday visited the Japan International Cooperation Agency funded Guwahati water supply project site along the Brahmaputra. Union minister Jaishankar reviewed the progress of the project along with the Japanese Ambassador of Japan. The External Affairs Minister and Ambassador of Japan to India arrived in Guwahati on Sunday evening for reviewing Indo-Japanese projects being implemented in Assam. They were received at the Lokopriyo Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport by Assam State Industries and Commerce Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary.
