State police arrested a Loyalhanna Township couple early Wednesday after shutting down what they called a methamphetamine lab at the couple’s home in rural Westmoreland County. Brian Miller, 51, and Jennifer Lynn Williams, 53, are charged with operating a methamphetamine lab, possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to manufacture a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawfully storing chemical waste and knowingly possessing ingredients to manufacture methamphetamine.

A man was jailed Tuesday after state police said he used scissors and a glue stick to alter lottery tickets into winners and cash them in at a Hempfield convenience store, according to court papers. Craig Marshall Stout, 45, who has addresses in Mt. Pleasant Borough and Jeannette, is charged with forgery, receiving stolen property, theft and possession of an instrument of crime. Troopers were called to the 7-Eleven store on Fosterville Road around 12:05 a.m. Tuesday for a reported theft attempt. Police said a man sitting outside on a motorcycle, identified as Stout, had tried to pass a counterfeit lottery ticket that appeared to be a $500 winner, according to court papers.

Bolivar man accused of restraining woman, violating PFA

A 26-year-old Bolivar man is accused of holding a Fairfield woman against her will for 13 hours Sunday and Monday, state police said. Zackery A. Collier was arrested by state troopers and charged with harassment, terroristic threats, simple assault, unlawful restraint and illegal possession of Ecstacy pills. He is being held in the Westmoreland County Prison without bond. Trooper Joshua Wiskeman reported in court documents that the woman said Collier was acting “erratically” when he appeared at her home Sunday and followed her inside, locking the door and taking her car keys.

Police charged Christian Barr Hawkins, 26, with several felony counts of endangering the welfare of children, simple assault, resisting arrest, and drug and traffic offenses. Police said an officer working with agents from the state attorney general’s office was alerted around 1 p.m. Wednesday of a man running from the back of a residence in the 2000 block of Kenneth Avenue. A criminal complaint filed in the case said the man got into a black Mercedes and sped away, and a short time later the officer saw the car turn from Leishman Avenue onto Richmond Street at a high rate of speed.
