A New Stanton woman who has been charged 11 times since September with making false alarm calls to 911 allegedly made her 40th unnecessary call to the dispatch center one that landed her in the county jail, according to state police.
Twandrea N. Brown, 33, who is awaiting hearings Feb. 24 on several prior complaints filed by troopers for making 39 unnecessary calls since Sept. 9 to the county’s 911 center, was arraigned Friday after her arrest for making another false emergency call from her residence in New Stanton Manor just after 5 p.m. Thursday.

A Rostraver man was arrested Thursday, charged with trying to touch an officer with a bloody bandage while being dropped off at the Westmoreland County Prison last month, according to court papers.
Thomas Welch, 58, whose last known address is in Van Meter, is charged with aggravated harassment by a prisoner and reckless endangerment.
Welch was taken to the Hempfield jail on Dec. 2 to be held until his arraignment on aggravated assault charges stemming from an incident in Rostraver the previous day, according to Westmoreland County detectives and court records. Investigators said Welch was arrested in connection with an assault in which a knife was used and he had bandaged injuries to his hands.

A man from Pittsburgh’s Lincoln-Lemington neighborhood was sent to Westmoreland County Prison without bail Wednesday because police said he threatened to kill police officers and their families as soon as he gets out of jail.
New Kensington police said they arrested Daevar Lamont Stevens, 21, about 7 p.m. Tuesday after an officer saw him walking in the 1300 block of Leishman Avenue. Police Chief Bob Deringer said Stevens was wanted on a warrant accusing him of receiving stolen property.

A Jeannette man under investigation by police for dealing drugs was arrested Wednesday after a foot chase in the city, according to court papers.
Rashaad Ricardo Shepard, 41, is being held in the Westmoreland County Prison without bond.
City police and agents from the state Attorney General’s office said they used a confidential informant this week to make a controlled buy from Shepard at his Columbia Court home. Officers were watching Shepard’s home at 5 p.m. Wednesday while a search warrant was being prepared when they saw him get into a pickup truck and travel a couple blocks to a store, according to court papers.

A judge on Tuesday ruled that defense lawyers for a New Kensington man facing a potential death sentence for the death of a 2-year-old can hire a medical expert to evaluate and potentially refute prosecution evidence at his upcoming trial.
Keith Dale Lilly Jr., 31, has been in the Westmoreland County Prison without bond since May, when he was charged with first-degree murder and other offenses in connection with the April 24, 2020, death of 2-year-old Mikel Fetterman.
Prosecutors contend the child was severely beaten and died as a result of injuries, some of which dated back several months, according to police.
