Brothers accused of fighting, spitting on guards at Westmoreland County Prison

A man is accused of spitting on a jail guard after his brother threw punches at another guard at the Westmoreland County Prison last month, according to court papers. The brothers were arraigned Tuesday on charges filed by county detectives. Austin Levi Kimmick, 20, is charged with aggravated and simple assault. Zackery David Kimmick, 30, is charged with aggravated harassment by a prisoner and terroristic threats. County detectives said Austin Kimmick attacked a guard at 1:15 p.m. Dec. 31 in a walkway outside of prisoner cells. The guard attempted to escort Kimmick to his cell during a lockdown when police said Kimmick threw punches at him, according to court papers.

A Hempfield man is accused by police of shooting a woman in her left ring finger Wednesday then dropping her off at a hospital, according to court papers. Timothy John Luchon, who turned 39 Wednesday, is charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, simple assault, child endangerment and tampering with evidence. State police said they were called to UPMC East Hospital at 3:30 p.m. where the woman reported being shot during an argument with Luchon at a Rocky Mountain Road home. Her finger was severely injured and she was transferred to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital for treatment, according to court papers.

North Huntingdon man jailed after 3 township officers hurt during welfare check

A North Huntingdon man is being held in the county jail after police said three township officers were hurt when they performed a welfare check at his house earlier this month, according to court papers. Kevin Michael Shouse, 23, is charged with several counts each of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, simple assault and harassment and single counts of marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police were called to Shouse’s Center Highway home on Dec. 16 at 11:30 a.m. to check on him after a 911 caller expressed concerns about his mental state, according to court papers. When they arrived, he was at the top of a staircase. Police said he picked up an 18-inch machete at one point and stood there facing officers.

Teen charged as adult in Mt Pleasant Twp armed robbery

A North Huntingdon teen was arrested by state police Wednesday in connection with an armed robbery Saturday in Mt. Pleasant Township. Elijah Ben Chaabane, 17, is charged with robbery, unlawful possession of a firearm by a minor, theft and related offenses. He is being charged as an adult. Troopers were called to Maruca Drive in Mt. Pleasant Township at 12:30 a.m. and found two men who reported being robbed by Chaabane, according to court papers. One of the men told police Chaabane contacted him through smartphone app SnapChat and requested a ride there from North Huntingdon in exchange for $40.
