25-year-old Brodey I. Murbarger is set to appear in a status hearing via Zoom in Wayne County Circuit Court at 10:30 Tuesday morning. The county will return to scheduling jury trials on that date, so the hearing will allow his defense and the prosecution to discuss the possibility of setting a trial date. No new evidence or motion outside of scheduling a jury trial is anticipated.

The number of used needles the program collects exceeds the number of clean needles it distributes, Stinson said, but the program extends beyond the simple exchange of needles. Five months after a New York City nurse became the first person in America to get a coronavirus shot, at least 25 states are now reporting that more than half of their adult population has been fully vaccinated a major milestone in the fight against COVID-19.
Data published Sunday by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows that Washington, D.C. has also fully vaccinated at least 50% of people 18 or older and that Maine’s 62.9% rate of fully vaccinated adults is the highest in the country. Connecticut and Vermont are right behind Maine in the vaccination race, with 62.8% and 62.7%, respectively.
The Farmland Assessment Review Committee will hold a public hearing for 2022 farmland assessments at 1 tomorrow in the Wayne County Boardroom, according to Supervisor of Assessments Jodi Poole. The final day to file a complaint with the Board of Review is June 23
rd. Poole also reminds people the deadline to apply for several homestead exemptions, including Senior Citizens Homestead Exemptions, is July 1

21-year-old McLeansboro resident Gabrielle A. Hopfinger pleaded guilty to a Class 3 felony count of possession of methamphetamine yesterday in Wayne County Circuit Court. She was sentenced to 30 months special section probation, plus time served, and two other counts were dismissed per her plea. Hopfinger was also ordered to pay $1,500 in fines and court costs.
