The 65-year-old Detroiter died Dec. 17 at Henry Ford Hospital from Covid after being on a ventilator since Nov. 27. Admirers, who must be masked, can pay respects from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Greater Grace Temple, 23500 W. 7 Mile Rd. (between Berg and Telegraph roads). Napoleon had just been re-elected in November, when he was unopposed..

Mourners can pay their respects this week to Wayne County Sheriff Benny Napoleon, who died  Dec. 17 after a weeks-long battle with COVID-19. A public visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Swanson Funeral Home on East Grand Boulevard in Detroit.  Another public viewing will take place at Greater Grace Temple on  7 Mile Road from 10 a.m to 6 p.m. Tuesday. Napoleon was with family when he died at Henry Ford Hospital earlier this month, his daughter Tiffani Jackson said. He was 65.  Napoleon was one of our city’s greatest public servants, Mayor Mike Duggan said in a statement.

The first public viewing is Monday, December 28 at Swanson Funeral home from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Swanson Funeral home is located at 806 East Grand Boulevard in Detroit.  Then on Tuesday, December 29, at Greater Grace Temple, from 10 a.m to 6 p.m. Greater Grace Temple is located at 23500 West Seven Mile in Detroit.

The public can pay their final respects to Napoleon, who served as Wayne County sheriff for more than a decade, today, Dec. 28, until 8 p.m. at Swanson Funeral Home, 806 E. Grand Blvd. in Detroit, according to the funeral home’s obituary page. A second viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 29, at Greater Grace Temple, 23500 W. Seven Mile Road in Detroit. Face masks and social distancing are required at both events.
