THE CASE against a 22-year-old Newport woman, charged with grooming a child while working at an Isle of Wight school, has been sent to the Isle of Wight Crown Court. Ellen Cadman-Smith, of Kingfisher Close, appeared before the Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday. She has been charged with grooming a boy under the age of 16, between February 1, 2020, and February 21, 2020. She is also charged with engaging in sexual communication with a child, between January 31, 2020, and March 4, 2020. The former student progress mentor is alleged to have exchanged messages with a boy under 16 which were sexual in nature.

Totland taxi driver found guilty of sustained harassment

A TOTLAND taxi driver has been found guilty of harassing a woman, following a trial. Ian Meadows had denied committing a sustained course of harassment without violence against a cafe owner over a period of four months. His case was heard at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on Tuesday, and he was found guilty. Meadows, 54, of Ward Road, denied harassment between November 22 last year and March 30. West Wight man who hurled flowerpot at car window jailed | Isle of Wight County Press

INCENSED environmental health officers took away all his sound equipment, a Freshwater man hurled a plant pot through a neighbour s car window, which resulted in him being jailed. Tomas Daniel Bateman admitted causing criminal damage to a car, belonging to Brian Leach who he blamed for a noise nuisance complaint against him last Friday (April 23). Subsequently, Bateman, of The Square, Freshwater, activated a suspended sentence order hanging over him made by Island magistrates in January for arson, growing cannabis and common assault against his mother last year. He was imprisoned for three months. The 31-year-old got drunk on three bottles of rum, and high on butane gas, after he discovered council officers had entered his property which adjoins Mr Leach s and confiscated any electronic equipment capable of making sound, from his TV to a sound system, said Ann Smout, prosecuting, at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on Monday.

By Court Reporter Stephen Goldsmith is accused of posessing indecent images of boys as young as seven years. A MAN accused of possessing potentially thousands of depraved sexual images of boys, appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on Monday. Stephen Goldsmith, of Mary Rose Avenue, Wootton, offered no pleas to five counts of possessing indecent photographs of a child including some of the most depraved kind from hard copy photos and memory sticks, last Friday, April 23. The 37-year-old was remanded in custody to reappear for a plea and trial management hearing, at the Isle of Wight Crown Court on June 7.
