Luke Voit headed to the injured list, the Yankees will need to rely on their depth at first base for the foreseeable future.
Shortly after revealing that Voit will be sidelined with a right oblique strain, Yankees manager Aaron Boone listed Mike Ford, DJ LeMahieu and Miguel Andújar as those in play to fill the void.
There s one slugger at the Triple-A level, however, that could swing his way into the conversation for some big-league playing time as well.
Chris Gittens has been tearing it up for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders so far in 2020. The first baseman is hitting .323 (10-for-31) with four home runs and a 1.297 OPS over 11 games this season.

Weather affected the Yankees’ minor league teams for the first time in 2021, as Scranton and Somerset both fell prey to the rain while Tampa split a twin bill and Hudson Valley lost a tough one in extras.
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (13-6): Scranton’s matchup against Buffalo was suspended in the fourth inning with the score 2-0 in favor of the Bisons. The game will resume tomorrow.
Somerset Patriots (14-5): The Patriots’ tilt against New Hampshire was postponed. The two teams will play a doubleheader tomorrow. Luis Medina (Robert M. Pimpsner)
Hudson Valley Renegades (10-10): The Renegades could not close things out after taking a one-run lead into the ninth, and fell victim to a back-breaking two-out grand slam in the top of the 10th in a 6-2 loss to Jersey Shore.

There was not much offense in the Yankees organization on Wednesday, but the four affiliates still combined to go 3-1 on the night and all three wins were decided by one run. Somerset will look for their eighth straight win with one of their best pitchers on the mound and Tampa gets set for a rare mid-week scheduled doubleheader. Due to scoring three runs in the top of the ninth inning last night, Buffalo was able to take the series opener after breaking a 2-2 tie with three runs in the top of the ninth inning. Scranton Wilkes-Barre will try to avoid a three-game losing streak tonight with Nick Green on the mound.
