“The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and JCPD are investigating a fatal shooting that killed one man just before 11:30 pm last night on Princenton [sic] Avenue and Brown Place. More info to follow,” the HCPO tweeted early this morning.
At 10:39 a.m., Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez released more information.
On Monday, just before 11:00 p.m., members of the Jersey City Police Department responded to a report of shots fired in the area of Princeton Avenue and Brown Place in Jersey.
Responding officers found a 23-year-old male victim – later identified as Emmanuel Garcia

A 23-year-old man was fatally shot in Jersey City late Monday night, the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office said Tuesday morning.
Emmanuel Garcia of Jersey City was pronounced dead at the Jersey City Medical Center after the shooting that occurred on Princeton Avenue near Brown Place just before 11 p.m.
It is the eighth homicide in Jersey City and the 11th in Hudson County in 2021. There are also one death under investigation that has been deemed suspicious.

Body found in tarp off Route 440
The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Bayonne Police Department are investigating a body found in a tarp on April 27 in a wooded area near the northbound side of Route 440 by the 63rd St. exit. No other information has yet been released.

Elvis Santana, 30, of Bayonne, was charged in March in relation to the death of Mathew
Mortimer who was found with multiple stab wounds to his body in the vestibule of 1095 Avenue C, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said in a statement.
Authorities believe that Santana is in the New York/New Jersey metro area.
Santana was previously charged with murder, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, and unlawful possession of a weapon.
On Tuesday, March 2nd, just before 3:30 p.m., members of the Bayonne Police Department responded to 1095 Avenue C between 53rd and 54th Streets on reports of a stabbing.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office is still seeking the public’s help in locating the whereabouts of a suspect wanted in connection with the death of a Bayonne man, 29, who was fatally stabbed in March.
