Yesterday, Hudson County Superior Court Patrick J. Arre sentenced Omar Williams,
23, of Jersey City, to 10 years in New Jersey state prison for his role in the death of Kamal
McCord, 19, of Jersey City – which occurred on May 2, 2018 in Jersey City, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced.
Arre also sentenced one of Williams’ co-defendants, Kai Robinson, 23, of Jersey City, to a term of five years in New Jersey state prison.
Both men pleaded guilty to first-degree aggravated manslaughter, with Robinson’s plea having the charge treated as second degree at sentencing.

Richard Hamedl, 32, of West New York, pleaded guilty to one count of third-degree insurance fraud in relation to an insurance claim filed following his involvement in a hit-and-run incident with a parked car in Hoboken, Suarez said in a statement.
The plea was accepted by the Hudson County Superior Court Judge Vincent J. Militello during a virtual plea hearing on Wednesday.
On August 26th, 2020, Hamedl was operating a 2019 BMW X6 when he struck a parked vehicle on 10th Street in Hoboken and fled the scene.

A state appeals court has ruled that a Hudson County murder suspect should be given access to the source codes of the cutting-edge DNA software that prosecutors say links his saliva to evidence in a 2017 shooting that killed a man and injured a child.
It’s the first time New Jersey courts have discussed the emerging field of probabilistic genotyping, which mathematically analyzes DNA samples. Such technology “marks a profound shift in DNA forensics,” the state appeals court said in a 74-page published ruling Wednesday.

Officers seized more than 9,400 grams of fentanyl, over 3,400 grams of cocaine, over 1700 grams of methamphetamine, over 800 grams of fentanyl pills, about eight grams of heroin, a loaded gun, and $118,395.
The street value of the drugs is approximately $1 million.
