George Gordon Liddy died on March 30 at the age of 90. The Guardian reports he died from complications from Parkinson s disease.
G. Gordon Liddy was the mastermind behind the Watergate burglary, which eventually led to President Richard Nixon’s resignation. In 1973, Liddy was sentenced to 20 years in jail for illegally wiretapping the Democratic Party s headquarters at the Watergate office complex, conspiracy and burglary.
Liddy was part of a secret group of special investigators called the White House plumbers, that worked to find out who leaked information that made President Nixon look back.

On Wednesday, New York State Police from Middletown arrested 37-year-old old James Jones Jr. of Lake Katrine on charges of third-degree rape, a felony, endangering the welfare of a child and unlawful dealing with a child, both misdemeanors.
The investigation revealed that on April 2, Jones took a minor to a local hotel, gave the girl alcohol and then raped the victim several times, police say.
The following morning, Jones transported the minor to Paramus, NJ where he left the girl, according to New York State Police. Police have not released the age of the child.

On Tuesday, the Orange County Chamber of Commerce joined brothers Jordan and Tyler Sloboda to celebrate the opening of their newest location of JavaJo’s Coffee Bar within The Galleria at Crystal Run. The locally-owned coffee house is now located on the lower level, near Urban Air Adventure Park.

On Saturday around 6:35 p.m., the Arlington Fire District was dispatched to 2740 South Road for a report of smoking coming from underneath a sink of a second-floor condo unit. A volunteer firefighter who lives in the complex exited his home and noticed a large amount of smoke in the area.
The firefighter was able to determine the fire was not coming from the original caller s home, but an adjunct nearby second-floor unit, and the person who lives in that unit was unaccounted for.

On Wednesday, the New York State Bridge Authority reminded motorists construction on the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge, Rip Van Winkle Bridge, Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge and Bear Mountain Bridge will cause delays and sometimes closures for the foreseeable future.
The Newburgh-Beacon Bridge north span redecking project is causing westbound traffic from Route 9D to merge onto the south span of the bridge. During the weekday evening rush hour, westbound traffic from Rt 9D will continue on the north span in the right lane. Westbound traffic from I-84 will merge onto the south span, officials say.
