Press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office: On April 27, 2021, at about 10:45 a.m., Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies conducting follow up on an investigation attempted to contact individuals residing at a residence on the 500 block of Forest Drive in Redway. At the residence, deputies contacted 31-year-old Robert Joseph Cullen who was known to be on formal probation and had three felony warrants for his arrest. Cullen was taken into custody without incident. During a search of Cullen’s person, deputies located over 5 grams of methamphetamine. During a search of Cullen’s living space, pursuant to the terms of his probation, deputies located a firearm with a loaded, high-capacity magazine.

Belligerent Man Arrested for Calling 911 Dozens of Times, Harassing Dispatchers, Sheriff s Office Says

Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office press release: On April 24, 2021, at about 11:44 a.m., Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a motel on the 300 block of State Highway 96 to contact an individual harassing medical and emergency communications dispatchers via 9-1-1. Robert Melvin Hurd. | HCSO Robert Melvin Hurd, age 63, contacted the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Communications Center via 9-1-1 approximately 26 times over the course of eight hours. During these contacts, Hurd was uncooperative and belligerent with dispatch staff. Upon deputy contact, Hurd continued being hostile with deputies. Hurd was taken into custody and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on charges of unlawful 9-1-1 calls
