During the search of Reese’s residence, deputies located and seized over 48 grams of methamphetamine, 28 grams of heroin, 100 Oxycodone Hydrochloride pills and four firearms, one of which was reported stolen. Down in Auburn State Recreation Area where drownings regularly occur in the American River at this time of year Auburn Sector Superintendent Mike Howard is doing what he can to educate the public about river hazards in early spring. Howard has personally pulled drowning victims from the river, and he’s hoping that awareness campaigns about the impact of snowmelt on rivers can help

Trinidad Coastal Land Trust employee Tim Haywood shared these photos of Monday’s cleanup effort at Moonstone Beach, after a group of pandemic partiers seemingly left behind heaps of garbage and a smoldering bonfire the night before. “They left a still-burning fire filled with nails from the pallets they burned and broken glass from their alcoholic beverages,” Haywood said. “They also left a lot of unburned pallets, particle board some of which had heavy layers of paint and varnish, produce boxes and their party sign.”

Search and Rescue Team Locates Overdue Lost Coast Campers

Press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office: On March 31, 2021, at about 11:26 a.m., the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Emergency Communications Center was contacted regarding two individuals who were overdue returning from a camping trip in the King’s Peak Area. The campers, a male and female in their 20s, were reported missing by a roommate after they failed to return home as scheduled on Monday. The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Special Services Division was deployed to begin a search and rescue for the individuals. During their search, deputies located the missing campers’ vehicle parked at the Mattole Beach Trailhead in Petrolia. Upon searching the beach, deputies located the two alive and well.
