A witness said the shooter fired multiple shots into the family s vehicle. The girl is currently fighting for her life.
Quinton said her boyfriend, who was driving, honked at another car as he tried to change lanes. The encounter escalated and the family was shot at two different times.
At least six bullets were fired, Quinton said. One of them ended up hitting her daughter. One millimeter below, it would have done more damage. She probably wouldn t have made it [out] alive, said Quinton.
Joellie has Pitt-Hopkins syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that delays development. She is non-verbal.
The little girl has a 6-inch scar on the top of her head, which had to be shaved the night of the shooting. Quinton said she covered up mirrors at home to protect Joellie on her return.

HOUSTON – Family and friends gathered Saturday afternoon for a chance for the community to say their final goodbyes.
Decarerick Kennedy was only 16 years old. His younger brother Faybian Hoisington was 14. Both were victims of “underground street racing,” according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
The Houston teenagers were staying with their grandma for the weekend when they attended a car meetup that was taking place nearly. On their way home, they were hit by a car and later died.
Investigators said a yellow 2018 Chevy Camaro hit a Chevy Malibu at a high rate of speed on the Northwest Freeway near Little York. The collision sent the Chevy Malibu off the road and hit the boys and another man.

A man and a child were killed in a car crash Saturday night in north Harris County, Sheriff Ed Gonzalez confirmed on Twitter.
HOUSTON – A man and a child were killed in a car crash Saturday night in north Harris County, Sheriff Ed Gonzalez confirmed on Twitter.
Harris County deputies responded to a major multi-vehicle crash at 14700 North Freeway, at the northbound service road near Airtex Drive. Officials described the victim as a male in his 20s and a child between 8 and 10 years old.
Investigators said two people were injured at the scene, and one was temporarily trapped in a vehicle. The injured occupants were transported to the hospital in unknown conditions, according to Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

A suspected intoxicated driver hit the patrol car of a Harris County Sheriff s Office sergeant.
Both of the drivers were transported to hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.
The sergeant was headed east in the 11300 block of FM 1960, said Harris County Sheriff s Office Sergeant Daniel Cooper. The other vehicle rear-ended the patrol car.
