Authorities chased people suspected of armed robbery and car theft across Houston highways Tuesday night and early Wednesday, in one case reaching speeds of more than 140 mph, officials said. Eight suspects were taken into custody and no one was injured in the three separate high-speed police pursuits.
In the first case, two people around 10:30 p.m. robbed a convenience store at gunpoint, said Lt. R. Willkens of the Houston Police Department. The duo grabbed money from the cash register and fled in a silver Chevy Impala from the store, located at 738 Lathrop Street in northeast Houston.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) A man who was accused of shooting a 9-year-old girl in the head has been charged after what Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez described as a drive-by shooting linked to road rage last week.
Kenneth Ross Gray, 22, was taken into custody Tuesday night. He was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, after threatening the girl s father, and serious bodily injury to a child, according to court records.
Deputies responded to the 19900 block of Masters Manor Lane in the Katy area last Friday around 4:40 p.m. A witness told them a man, with his wife and two children in the car, stopped, got out and yelled for help. Moments later, another car pulled up.
Possible burglary suspect crashes vehicle, dies in Cypress

Harris County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal crash Sunday morning in Cypress. The incident occurred at 6:20 a.m. when officials responded to a possible burglary at a private storage unit near Fry and Morton roads.
Investigators said the suspect was spotted by a security guard, who called the storage unit’s owner. When the owner arrived, he started to follow the suspect for their license plate information.
The suspect attempted to get away and drove on the wrong side of Greenhouse Road. Investigators said that is when the driver collided with another driver.

KATY, Texas – The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is searching for the shooter responsible for a deadly shooting Friday afternoon in Katy. One man was shot and killed, while a 5-year-old child was grazed by a bullet, authorities said.
Several law enforcement officers responded around 3:30 p.m. to the reported shooting at the Haven at Westgreen Apartments.
“All of a sudden I heard a bunch of crazy siren noise and I was like that’s way too close to just be going up and down the street,” said Andrew Bell, who lives at the complex.
