The Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance is preparing to slowly resume non-essential and elective services at its hospitals in Huron and Perth counties, as long as COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations and ICU admissions in Ontario continue to trend downward.
The province halted non-essential and elective procedures in Ontario hospitals April 20 as health-care providers focused their resources on a response to a spike in COVID-19 cases during the pandemic’s third wave. That directive was officially rescinded Wednesday, paving the way for hospitals to begin thinking about how to address lengthy waitlists.
