According to court documents, Brandon Blake Neeley, 19, of Athens, was arrested on Oct. 5, 2020 as he attempted to leave the scene of a fire at the Dogwood Estates Water Company Pump No. 2 building. Four days earlier, on Oct. 1, another building belonging to Dogwood Estates that housed Pump No. 4, was also set ablaze. Dogwood Estates Water Company serves more than 400 Athens-area homes. After both Pump No. 2 and Pump No. 4 were destroyed, Dogwood was forced to use a backup pump not designed to bear the full load of customer demands. Customers have been asked to limit their water usage until the burned pumps can be repaire

Police: 2 charged with robbery offenses after chase in Fletcher From staff reports On the afternoon of Friday, April 16, the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a person being robbed by subjects with a handgun in the parking lot at 50 Cross Roads Drive in Mills River. The victim provided a description of the suspects and suspect vehicle as it was last seen headed toward Fletcher on Highway 280, the Sheriff s Office said in a news release.  Officers with the Fletcher Police Department located the vehicle on Airport Road and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The driver attempted to flee from officers and a chase ensued, the release states.

  The armed robbery victim provided a description of the suspects and their vehicle as it was last seen headed towards Fletcher on N.C. 280. Officers with the Fletcher Police Department located the suspect vehicle on Airport Road and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The suspect vehicle attempted to flee from officers and a chase ensued. The chase continued from Airport Road onto U.S. 25 towards Fletcher. The suspect vehicle collided with another vehicle at the intersection of U.S. 25 and Fanning Bridge Road. The two suspects then fled on foot, but were apprehended by officers within a few minutes. The handgun used in the robbery was also located and seized.

Athens man who was allegedly found with ‘large amount of meth’ during HCSO search indicted Demarcus Kiser (Source: Henderson County Jail website) By Gary Bass | April 17, 2021 at 5:30 PM CDT - Updated April 17 at 5:30 PM HENERSON COUNTY, Texas (KLTV) - A grand jury indicted a 35-year-old Athens man who was allegedly found to have a “large amount of meth” when Henderson County Sheriff’s Office deputies searched his house in August of 2020. Demarcus Kinta Kiser is still being held in the Henderson County Jail on charges of AOS/evading arrest with a vehicle, AOS/evading arrest, manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance between 200 and 400 grams, and tamper with or fabricate physical evidence with intent to impair investigation. His total bond amount was set at $40,000.
