Sheriff s Office Lt. Daniel Terry named Fletcher chief of police From staff reports Daniel D. Terry has been selected as the town of Fletcher s next chief of police. Terry was chosen after a comprehensive search that began with a pool of 38 applicants, town officials said in a news release.   Terry, 50, of Hendersonville, will begin his duties on April 5.  Terry currently serves with the Henderson County Sheriff s Office as lieutenant of the Division of Professional Responsibility.  He previously served as a commander with the Elmhurst, Illinois Police Department, retiring after 23 years with the agency. He has also served as an adjunct faculty member with Kaplan University in Chicago. 

Traffic stop leads to arrest in Henderson County

March 17, 2021 Oquawka, Il- The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office has announced three different arrests stemming from a traffic stop. On Friday, March 12th, a Henderson County Sheriff’s Deputy on routine patrol conducted a traffic stop on Township Road 2560N at Township Road 1500E in the Oquawka Township. The traffic stop led to the arrest of 31-year-old Michael A. Abbott of Oquawka, IL. Abbott was arrested for Driving With a Suspended License. A subsequent search of the vehicle discovered methamphetamine and a hypodermic syringe. Abbott was transported to the Henderson County Jail.  A judge later set Abbott’s bond at $6,000, 10 % to apply.

Suspects sought in B&E of La Manzana store in Edneyville area Friday From staff reports The Henderson County Sheriff s Office is seeking the public s assistance in identifying two suspects to broke into a store in the Edneyville area Friday.  The suspects broke into La Manzana store at 3810 Chimney Rock Road in the early morning hours Friday.   The two individuals caused substantial damage to the inside of the business and stole merchandise as well as an undetermined amount of money, the Sheriff s Office said in a news release. Anyone with information about the suspects are asked to contact Detective Kelly Oliver at 828-694-2958 or use the Submit A Tip feature on the mobile app.

Henderson County Sheriff Botie Hillhouse said that a year ago, before the jail had cases, they began taking precautions. “We started doing questionnaires asking COVID symptoms, taking everybody’s temperatures as they’re coming into jail, and then we would do our best to quarantine the new inmates,” he said.

(WFIE) - One person was arrested on drug trafficking charges after a traffic stop in Henderson Monday morning. Deputies with the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office say they saw a vehicle just after 2 a.m. speeding 26 mph over the speed limit on I-69 near Exit 12. They say deputies stopped the vehicle shortly after. After investigating deputies arrested the driver, Robert Miller of Indianapolis, on DUI and other charges. They say they arrested the passenger, Danielle Malin of Bedford, Indiana, on several charges, including trafficking in Ecstacy, possession of methamphetamine and tampering with evidence.
