OWENSBORO, Ky. (WFIE) - Crews have been treating the roads for days, but even that could not prevent slide offs and wrecks in our western Kentucky counties on Wednesday.
Officials at the Daviess County Garage say they started treating the roads with brine on Monday, followed by two consecutive days of salt.
“There are so many variables,” says Daviess County Engineer Mark Brasher. “Is it snow? Is it sleet? Is it ice? You treat them all a little bit different. What is the temperature of the road?”
One person dead after crash at Henderson-Union County line
HENDERSON, Ky. One person is dead after a three-vehicle accident Tuesday morning on U.S. 60-West near the Henderson-Union County line.
The Henderson County Sheriff s Office worked the crash which closed a portion of the road for hours, officials said.
The deceased has been identified as 57-year-old Randy Hobgood of Morganfield.
According to sheriff s officials, the accident occurred around 7:30 a.m. when the 1994 F-150 operated by Hobgood and was traveling east and moved into the path of a 2017 Jeep Wrangler driven by Billy Halpin, 50, Morganfield.
A third vehicle, a 2014 Ford, driven by James Brashear, 37, was unable to avoid striking the Jeep because of road conditions, a news release said.
The Mills River Town Council has asked its Planning Board to craft the town s first noise ordinance, after complaints about amplified music and construction noise.

HENDERSON COUNTY, Texas Three Henderson County residents are behind bars accused of drug possession and vehicle theft.
According to the Henderson County Sheriff s Office, on Monday, April Michelle Boot, 39, of Mabank, as caught with meth, baggies for distribution and a pipe for smoking.
The HCSO says Boot and Kyle James Greenlee, 35, of Gainesville, were in a truck stolen out of Burleson in the 200 block of Port Drive in Gun Barrel City.
Both were charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle out of Hopkins County.
On Wednesday, Feb. 3, deputies on the Sheriff’s Office s Crime Suppression Unit were conducting a saturated patrol of a known high-crime area in the Clear Creek community when they observed a vehicle with a fictitious registration plate. Upon conducting a vehicle stop, officers observed drug paraphernalia and narcotics inside the vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed numerous individual bags of methamphetamine, digital scales and $5,822 in cash.
Jeffrey Scott Clark and Magdalena Bionca Serna, both of Hendersonville, were arrested and charged with two counts of trafficking methamphetamine, conspiracy to traffic methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver schedule II controlled substance. Clark and Serna were jailed in the Henderson County Detention Facility under a $1,517,000 bond.
