Oneida County officially reported its first confirmed coronavirus case and first death one year ago this month, according to Observer-Dispatch records.

That brings the total of lab-confirmed positive COVID-19 tests to 5,410 since mid-March 2020.
There are currently 84 active COVID-19 cases in the county with 13 patients hospitalized. A total of 5,230 have recovered. Ninety-six people have died of the illness.
Negative COVID-19 test results now total 104,189.
A total of 160 people are in mandatory quarantine with Public health orders; no one was released. There are 110 in precautionary quarantine; five were released.
Herkimer County’s first confirmed case of COVID-19 was announced March 12, with the second announced March 19. The county’s first coronavirus death was announced March 26, an 85-year-old with underlying health conditions.
