Watford fans jump in pond after Hornets promotion

Reporter Nathan Louis went down to the scene to give people a live glimpse at the atmosphere in the town centre. Plenty of people can be seen partying, although not much social distancing can be seen taking place around the pond and not many people are wearing a face mask despite fans being warned earlier this week to not breach coronavirus regulations. Litter has also been chucked into the pond and can also be seen scattered around it. In a statement issued during the celebrations, Hertfordshire Constabulary has urged people to follow coronavirus rules. There are police officers in the town centre observing the celebrations from a distance, although crowds have not been broken up.

Watford promotion: Rubbish dumped into pond during celebrations

The pond in Watford town centre has been left in a state as Hornets fans celebrated the club’s promotion to the Premier League. Hundreds of Hornets fans have been celebrating around the pond following Watford’s 1-0 win over Millwall this afternoon, which has guaranteed the club promotion back to England’s top flight of football. Several fans jumped into the pond as they celebrated the club’s achievement, while others danced and chanted songs around it. But the pond has been left in a tip, with heaps of rubbish including beer bottles dumped into it. Plenty of people have been seen partying, although not much social distancing has taken place around the pond and not many people were wearing a face mask despite fans being warned earlier this week to not breach coronavirus regulations.
