Detailed description is Our love of rocks and gems inspired us to design beautiful wire-wrapped pendants and showcase amazing spheres from around the world.
Back in April of 1999, my wife and I decided to take a vacation to Colorado.
We had a wonderful time touring Estes Park, CO, and Moab, UT, and greatly enjoyed some of the wildlife stores we visited.
As we drove home, we talked about what we liked and disliked about various wildlife stores.
Then we started brainstorming about how it would be neat to have a store that combined the best from each of our favorite stores into one great store in Kansas City.
In July of 1999 we started our new wildlife and nature store, "Wilderness Reflections.".
In 2001, we began hearing of rock shows in Kansas City, Denver, and Tucson, and began visiting them more and more frequently to pick up jewelry, rocks, and fossils to add to our nature store.
Our interest in and love for gems and minerals grew as we became more aware of the beautiful colors and shapes made by our creator and found in caves and rock formations in various parts of the world..
I have wanted to turn my love for rocks into some kind of business for a number of years; however, my career path has been in Information Technology (IT).
While I have been pretty successful in IT, my true passion is for rocks..
A few years ago I began cutting rough stones and polishing them into spheres.
This year while visiting Tucson shows, we purchased a cabochon polishing machine.
Shortly after returning home, I decided to do more than just make spheres and cabochons--I wanted to turn them into jewelry.
I had done some silversmithing in the past, but decided to learn the art of wire wrapping.
It has helped me fulfill by "rocky dream" to be creating pretty pieces of jewelry out of beautiful stones..
My wife, Heidi, has been assisting with polishing cabochons, ordering supplies, photographing the jewelry, and marketing, and also hopes to become a skilled wire wrapper..
We decided to call our business Aspen Park Design because the closest shops and restaurants to where we live are in a small mountain community known as Aspen Park.
It is located within the city limits of Conifer, Colorado..
