My name is Leslie and this is my first year as a Site Supervisor at R.L.
Stevens Elementary School and third year overall with CalSERVES.
My journey in education began during my senior year at the University of California, San Diego where I was fortunate to have the opportunity to volunteer as an English tutor at a charter school in southeast San Diego.
This was when I discovered my passion of working with traditionally underserved students.
After graduation, I decided to bring this passion back to the community I grew up in and was fortunate enough to find an AmeriCorps program housed by CalSERVES at the very same elementary school I once attended!.

At my old elementary school, I served two years (over 3,500 hours) as an AmeriCorps member working alongside school day teachers offering tutoring services to support students' academics, promoted a positive school climate, and lead small group mentoring sessions to empower students to navigate through their social and emotional challenges.
This demanding, yet rewarding position helped me transition to the role of Site Supervisor at R.L.
Stevens.

I look forward to coaching and supporting my staff of 5 Classroom Leaders and 5 AmeriCorps members this year.
Alongside this amazing group of individuals, I know we will continue to make a positive impact on our youth's lives.
