The Guam Department of Labor sent out $4.8 million in unemployment aid out this week, $328,000 of which is Lost Wages Assistance funds, according to the agency on Tuesday.
Residents should see monies by early next week. This covers error-free claims through Dec. 19, which means there is just one last full week of benefits left for residents in the current program.
Since June, the department has distributed more than half a billion dollars in PUA to qualified claimants, the agency said.
“Working closely with the governor and the lieutenant governor, my department and I have been committed throughout 2020 to helping the people of Guam get through this pandemic. We will continue to work hard in the new year in getting emergency financial assistance out to our workforce affected by COVID-19,” said Guam Department of Labor Director David Dell’Isola. “We hope these funds will help families as we all look forward to 2021 and as we work to implement the second COVID-19 relief package.”
