'A close-up view': What parents learnt about their kids in lockdown

Australian parents have better insights into their children’s schooling now than they did a year ago, and will be looking to this year’s NAPLAN tests to determine whether remote learning periods during the coronavirus pandemic set back students’ education.
Focus group research conducted for the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority has revealed that parents have historically relied on conversations with teachers to determine their child’s progress through school.

But since the pandemic they have become empowered to use their own observations to understand their children’s progress, and are also more likely to draw on school exams and standardised tests such as NAPLAN as a resource.
