By Kevin Zimmermann Aug 4, 2021 | 4:06 PM 20 more positive tests for COVID-19 have been received since Tuesday by the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health. Along with 9 recoveries, that raises the number of active cases being monitored by the DPH to 147, and the total number of cases recorded so far to 14,103. Hospitalizations also rose – by one – with 5 now being treated for their symptoms. Sheboygan County’s 7-day average of new confirmed cases is now 17.43. All Wisconsin counties except one are now classified as having a “High” case activity. The exception, Milwaukee County, is experiencing a “Very High” rate, illustrating the resurgence of COVID-19 that most experts attribute to the spread of the highly-contagious “Delta” variant of the SARS-CoV-2 Virus. In Sheboygan County a burden of 166.8 cases per 100,000 persons was reported by the State DHS, and our trajectory was upwards at a rate of 139% over the last two weeks.
