Our Correspondent Diphu, July 12 (EMN): In what could be called a major development in the political scenario of Karbi Anglong, 144 party workers and supporters from Congress and independent supporters from Howraghat and Socheng Dhenta MAC constituencies on Tuesday joined BJP during a mass joining program held at BJP-East Karbi Anglong District Committee office at ARTC 1st Gate-Diphu Manja Road. Congress leaders and workers of Howraghat Block Congress Committee, 25 strong supporters of United Democratic Front of Surupathar and APHLC workers from Lumbajong joined the BJP party. Among them was Sarjeng Engti who was the official Congress candidate from Korkanthi MAC constituency at the recently concluded KAAC election. Chief Executive Member (CEM), Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Tuliram Ronghang said that during the last five years, he has witnessed peace and development in Karbi Anglong with the armed organisations having signed peace agreements for peace and development. As the people have voted the BJP to power again and it is the responsibility of ‘Team Karbi Anglong’ with all 26 elected MACs to work towards the welfare and development of the people, said CEM.
