City of Spencer Starts Discussion on Finding Next City Manager By charguth May 11, 2021 4:40 am Saga Communications Spencer, IA (KICD)– The Spencer City Council met in special session Monday evening to get some initial recommendations on how to start the search for the next City Manager. The meeting began with a formal motion to accept the resignation of Amanda Mack who will be leaving in early June to for a similar position in Watertown, South Dakota. That motion passed by a six to one vote with Councilman Tom Nelson voicing an opinion against the idea. From there, the council was given some potential options for finding the right candidate to fill the opening that could include bringing in a consultant, but newly hired Human Resources Director Jessica Wright asked that she be given an opportunity to dive into finding Mack’s replacement.
