Sponsored Links The automotive industry has finally produced a worthy answer to the off-road-obsessed Ford F-150 Raptor, with Fiat Chrysler pulling the wraps off of its new 2021 Ram TRX today. We’ll avoid wasting any time here and get right down to the facts. The 2021 Ram TRX is powered by a supercharged 6.2L HEMI V8 engine that is good for 702 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque. With standard four-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission, this mean-looking rig will hustle from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds and complete the quarter-mile in 12.9 seconds at 108 mph. Underneath, the Ram TRX gets an all-new independent front suspension with Bilstein Black Hawk e2 adaptive performance shocks, forged aluminum upper and lower control arms as well as other “upgraded components to provide more performance and improved endurance,” Ram says. In the rear, the truck gets a model-exclusive five-link coil suspension system with Bilstein active dampers and large 600-millimeter springs, which are the largest ever applied to a non-commercial production vehicle. Despite being set up for off-roading, Ram says the coil springs “are more than up to the task of handling a maximum payload of 1,310 pounds and towing capability of 8,100 pounds.” The superior packaging of this rear suspension/axle setup also allows for greater wheel travel without reducing the cargo area in the bed.
