Madeleine E. Fox, 22, of Billerica was pronounced dead on scene after Massachusetts State Police were called to investigate a body reported on the highway just prior to Exit 32, Route 93 northbound in Medford.
According to Dave Procopio, director of media communications for the State Police, "The investigation into the facts and circumstances of the crash, including the identity of the driver who struck and whether or not charges are warranted, is ongoing."
Procopio wrote, "Responding troopers and EMS personnel located the victim, a 22-year-old female, and determined she was deceased."
He said a preliminary investigation suggests Fox was found just after midnight on Sunday, Feb. 28 and was, "...an occupant in a friend’s vehicle that was on the highway when she exited that vehicle. The victim, who at this point was a pedestrian on the highway, was then struck and killed by a motor vehicle or motor vehicles, the description(s) of which we are still trying to ascertain at this time."
