Photo/Lawrence Emerson The new steps and canoe/kayak slide constructed this week at the Rector Tract Park in Remington. 4.8 Miles from the countyâs new Rector Tract Park canoe/kayak landing at Remington to the Kellyâs Ford landing downstream. The Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources, the county parks department and volunteers this week built steps with a canoe slide down to the Rappahannock River at the park. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at noon Saturday, Aug. 14. Rector gives the county two public boat landings on the hard-to-access Rappahannock. It also provides the first reasonable one-day float from one public access point to another in the county.
