69% surge in cargo handling in first quarter of 2021 05 Apr 2021 - 8:43 By Irfan Bukhari | The Peninsula Doha: The ports of Qatar have witnessed a surge of 69% in cargo handling in first quarter of 2021 compared to same period last year. Hamad Port, Ruwais Port and Doha Port handled 411,132 Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units (TEUs) containers; 462,570 tonnes general cargo; 105,492 livestock heads; 198,950 tonnes building materials and 19,729 units of vehicles from January to March this year. A total of 747 ships docked at these ports in three months. “MwaniQatar achieved a remarkable increase in its performance in the 1st quarter of 2021. A total quantity of 462,570 tonnes of cargo and 411,132 containers were handled during the first quarter, a year-on-year increase of 69% and 22% respectively. #HamadPort #DohaPort #RuwiasPort,” Mwani Qatar tweeted yesterday.
