The Indian telecom sector has urged the government to allocate additional airwaves to ensure the seamless rollout of 5G and 6G services. SP Kochhar, director-general of the CCOAI, said that each telecom operator requires approximately 2 GHz in the mid-band for 5G and 6G use by 2030. While the mid-band, particularly the c-band (3.3-4.2 GHz), is ideal for 5G and 6G, challenges arise due to the current allocation for defence and other purposes.
