Thousands more apprentices will be helped to get jobs this year as Scott Morrison extends a 50 per cent wage subsidy for new trainees while the economy recovers from the Covid-19 pandemic.
The prime minister has removed the 100,000-person cap on the Boosting Apprenticeship Commencements scheme after the places filled up in just five months.
The policy was due to stop on September 30 but now any apprentice hired before then will have their wages subsidised for a whole year from the day they start.
