ADOPTIONS are continuing in Cumbria despite the death of a one-year-old boy who was under Cumbria County Council care when he died. The council has confirmed that adoptions will still take place in Cumbria after the death of a one-year-old in Barrow who was being 'looked after' by the local authority when he died. A man, 34, and woman, 37, both from Barrow, have been arrested on suspicion of his murder. Tim Farron, MP for South Lakes, agrees that it is 'vital' that adoptions should still be taking place. He said: “This is incredibly tragic. “It’s absolutely critical that the independent investigation is comprehensive, thorough and prevents an appalling incident like this from ever being allowed to happen ever again.
