Alaska Native Artist Residency Program applications available January 21st |
Friends of Sheldon Jackson Museum are looking for Alaska Native artists to apply to the 2021 Native Artist Residency program. This 2021 Alaska Native Artist Residency Program starts in May and ends in September. In 2021, the Museum is offering a higher financial award, food stipend, travel to and from Sitka, and paid time accessing and studying the museum's exceptional Alaska Native ethnographic and art collection. Five residency positions are available. Residencies are 17 or 19 days long and occur: May 14 - June 1; June 4 - June 20 ; July 10 - July 26 ; July 27 - Aug. 12 ; and Aug. 21 - Sept. 6. All residencies involve creating art at the museum in an open studio-like format and include artist stipends of $1,800-$2,200, a food per diem of $680, lodging, and travel to and from Sitka.
