BIRMINGHAM — On Friday, June 11 th at 8 p.m., weather permitting, the Alabama Department of Transportation will begin scheduled Concrete Bridge Deck repairs on the I-59 northbound and southbound bridges over Edwards Lake Road in Jefferson County as follows: The outside (right) shoulder of I-59 northbound over Edwards Lake Road (Milepost 137.4). The inside (left) lane of the northbound I-459 ramp to I-59 northbound. The outside (right) lane of I-59 southbound over Edwards Lake Road. (Milepost 137.4). All traffic lanes will be re-opened no later than 5 a.m. Monday, June 14 th. Motorists are requested to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area. ALDOT thanks motorists for their patience during this maintenance operation to improve Alabama’s roadways.
